**What is the optimal protocol for media traffic (audio/video)?**

Scoot uses **UDP over a random port** for inbound and outbound media traffic, which provides the **Highest Optimal experience**.

**What is the fallback protocol?**

If UDP is blocked, **TCP traffic** must be allowed, though sustained use of TCP or TLS is considered a **less optimal protocol** and can degrade overall quality.

**When is a TURN/STUN service used?**

When direct connection via UDP is impossible due to network security policies, the user must connect through Scoot's TURN Service provider, **Twilio**.
