# Connecting your calendar

Connect your Google Calendar or Outlook calendar to Scoot from **My Settings**. Scoot reads your calendar so it can match your Scoot meetings to the calendar events they came from, including who was invited.

This is different from the calendar add-ins, which add a Scoot room link to an event from inside your calendar. See [Scoot Engage for Outlook](https://docs.scoot.app/help-articles/getting-started-with-scoot/scoot-engage-for-outlook-calendar-setup.md) and [Scoot Engage for Google Workspace](https://docs.scoot.app/help-articles/getting-started-with-scoot/scoot-for-google-workspace-calendar-setup.md).

## Connect a calendar

1. Open Scoot in a web browser. You can't connect a calendar from the desktop or mobile app.
2. Click your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner and select **My Settings**.
3. In the **Calendar** section, click **Connect** next to **Google Calendar** or **Outlook**.
4. Sign in to your calendar account and allow Scoot to read your calendar. Leave the calendar permission checked.

After you connect, the calendar shows **Connected · syncing for the first time…**. The first sync usually finishes within a minute or two.

## How syncing works

Scoot keeps your calendar in sync in the background. You don't need to keep Scoot open.

* Scoot reads your primary calendar only.
* It reads events from about one week ago to two weeks ahead.
* It checks for changes about every 15 minutes, and again when you start a meeting.
* **My Settings** shows when the calendar last synced.

## If your IT admin must approve Scoot

Some organizations require an IT admin to approve Scoot before you can connect. Scoot shows a link to send them. Click **Copy link**, send it to your IT admin, and click **Connect** again after they approve.

## Fix a broken connection

If Scoot can no longer read your calendar, you'll see a message such as "Access to this calendar expired." or "This calendar stopped syncing." Click **Reconnect** and sign in again.

## Disconnect a calendar

Click **Disconnect** next to the calendar, then confirm. Scoot stops reading the calendar and deletes the events it synced. Invitee lists already on past meetings are kept.
