# Meeting Mode and presentation modes

A Scootaverse room has three modes:

* **Mingle Mode**: everyone moves around the room and talks in small audio groups.
* **Presentation Mode**: up to four presenters are on stage and everyone else is in the audience. The host decides how the audience can participate.
* **Meeting Mode**: a collaborative meeting with equal participation. Everyone is on stage together, like a video call, so it suits sales meetings, demos and small team calls.

> Availability depends on your plan and account settings.

## Start Meeting Mode

From inside a room, do one of these:

* Click the presentation button in the toolbar (tooltip **Start Presentation**) and choose **Meeting Mode**.
* Open the options menu and click **Meeting Mode**.

While Meeting Mode is on, mingle activities such as toasts, ice breakers and room music are turned off.

## In a meeting

Each person appears in a tile. Hosts can open the three-dot menu on a tile to:

* **Promote to host**
* **Open pop-out**: watch that person in a floating window. See [Pop-out presenters and hiding your camera](https://docs.scoot.app/help-articles/presentation-controls/additional-presentation-controls-pop-out-presenters-and-hiding-presenters.md).
* **Remove from room**

Everyone in Meeting Mode counts as a presenter, so there is no **Leave as Presenter** button. A host ends the meeting and returns everyone to the room with **Go to Mingle Mode** or **Send Everyone to Mingle**, depending on the version you see.

## Set the mode people enter in

Hosts can choose which mode people are in when they enter a Scootaverse.

1. In Scoot Home, open the Scootaverse and go to its settings.
2. Under **Default Entering Mode** ("Select the default mode for users entering this Scootaverse"), choose **Mingle Mode**, **Presentation Mode** or **Meeting Mode**.

You can't change this setting while the Scootaverse is open. A room's advanced settings also have a **Default Entering Mode** option for that room.

## The Start Presentation window

On some accounts, **Start Presentation** opens a step-by-step window instead of a menu. Click **Next** to move through the steps, **Back** to change an earlier answer, and **Start Presenting** at the end.

1. **Where do you want to present?** Choose **To My Group** (your audio group only), **To This Room** or **To All Rooms** (connected rooms). For a room presentation, also choose an option under **How should the audience participate?** See [Audience settings](https://docs.scoot.app/help-articles/presentation-controls/what-are-audience-settings-and-how-do-i-use-them.md).
2. **What type of presentation?** Choose **Presentation** ("Traditional presentation with audience controls") or **Meeting Mode** ("Collaborative meeting with equal participation"). This step only appears when Meeting Mode is available.
3. **Who do you want to present?** Tick **Me** to present yourself, and use **Search and add co-presenter(s)** to add others. The window shows how many of the four presenter slots are left.
4. **What do you want to share?** Choose one:
   * **Just Present**: present without sharing any content.
   * **My Screen**: share your screen, window or tab. Turn on **Optimize for video playback** if you are sharing a video.
   * **A YouTube Video** or **A Vimeo Video**: paste the video's URL.
   * **A Live Stream**: set up an HLS or RTMP stream. See [Live streaming in Scoot](https://docs.scoot.app/help-articles/presentation-controls/live-streaming-in-scoot.md).

Group presentations always share a screen, so for **To My Group** the last step is **Select your screen to share**.
