Scoot Technical Information FAQs Sheet

I. Network and Connectivity Requirements

Scoot provides high-quality events by optimizing network communication, relying primarily on standard internet protocols. FAQ Technical Detail Which ports and protocols are required for core services? Core Scoot services require full network access over port 443 using both https and web-socket connections. What are the required URI patterns for firewall access? Network administrators must allow access to the following Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs): scoot.app, us.scoot.app, and *.scoot.app. What is the optimal protocol for media traffic (audio/video)? Scoot uses UDP over a random port for inbound and outbound media traffic, which provides the Highest Optimal experience. What is the fallback protocol? If UDP is blocked, TCP traffic must be allowed, though sustained use of TCP or TLS is considered a less optimal protocol and can degrade overall quality. When is a TURN/STUN service used? When direct connection via UDP is impossible due to network security policies, the user must connect through Scoot’s TURN Service provider, Twilio. What are the required URIs and ports for the TURN Service? Administrators must allow access to Global.stun.twilio.com and Global.turn.twilio.com. Required ports are 443, 3478 (TCP and UDP), and 5349 TCP. Static IP addresses for this service are provided via a link to Twilio’s documentation. What is the recommended bandwidth for large meetings? For larger rooms, users should have up to 30 Mbps download and up to 10 Mbps upload.
