This guide introduces new Scoot users to accessing the platform (PC/Mac via Chrome/Edge recommended, Android browser, iOS app), joining meetings, navigating virtual rooms with movement controls and the map featuring spatial audio and interaction.

Scoot Quick Start Guide for Web

Accessing the Scootaverse:

  • Platforms:
    • PC or Mac (using a web browser)
    • Android mobile browser (Google Chrome)
    • Native iOS app (download from the App Store)
  • Supported Browsers (PC/Mac):
    • Google Chrome (Recommended)
    • Microsoft Edge (Recommended)
    • Safari
    • Firefox
  • Recommendation:
    • For optimal performance, use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
    • Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version.

Joining a Scoot Meeting:

  • Link Access: Click the provided meeting link.
  • Guest or Registration:
    • Depending on the meeting settings, you may join as a guest or need to register.
  • Smart Badge:
    • Fill out your Smart Badge information (name, company, title) for easy identification.
  • Movement:
    • Use your mouse or arrow keys to move freely within the virtual room.
  • Audio Proximity:
    • Audio volume changes based on your distance from other participants. Closer = louder, farther = quieter.
  • Background Music:
    • If enabled by the host, adjust your individual music volume using the slider at the bottom of the screen.
  • Finding People:
    • Mini-Map: Use the mini-map to see the layout of the room and participant locations.
    • Search Bar: Search for people by name, company, or title.
    • Teleport:
      • Click on an empty space on the map to teleport there.
      • Open a user’s Smart Badge and click the teleport option to move directly to them.
  • Zoom:
    • Use the zoom control in the bottom-left corner to adjust your view.

Tips for a Smooth Experience:

  • Network Connection:
    • Disconnect from VPNs or strict networks, as they can cause connectivity issues.
    • Use a strong internet connection.
  • Group Size:
    • For optimal audio clarity, keep groups to 10 people or less.
  • Updates:
    • Use updated browsers and computers for best performance.
  • Virtual Backgrounds:
    • Change your virtual background by going to the options menu, and selecting “Video Effects”.

  • If you have problems with the Smart Badge, double check your entered information.
